The experience that Mike and Gerri have as teachers
and players can be offered for all levels of play, from beginners
to the most advanced tournament player. Platform Tennis has
made strides over the last decade and has become a very exciting
game played on all levels. Performance Paddle Camps provide
students the opportunity to gain from the experience of these
platform tennis experts.
With their knowledge, experience and teaching expertise, Gerri
and Mike are sought out by a vast array of organizations, most
recently at a conference held for The Country Club Managers
Association, on the benefits of a club hiring a platform tennis
professional.

opportunity to gain from the experience of these platform tennis
experts. Performance Paddle Camp
will stay with you all season long with instructional tips and
e-mail updates.
Gerri and Mike have specialized in teaching platform tennis.
They share this body of knowledge with club members and professionals.
Club members receive individualized instruction as they learn
the strokes, strategies and positioning that have made Gerri
and Mike top paddle players. In addition, Performance Paddle
takes a collaborative approach to teaching with the club professionals.
By sharing their paddle program formats and drills on the court
with the club pro, Gerri and Mike create synergy, expand the
repertoire of paddle teaching strategies and insure continuity
of instruction in each club. Club members can enjoy a wealth
of knowledge and a season full of drills and tips to build their
game on. It's a win win situation "Gerri and
Mike have worked hard on improving their games; they're looking
forward to helping you improve yours."

GERRI
VIANT
Gerri grew up playing tennis in Australia, competing in national
tournaments and held junior state rankings. After backpacking
around the world for 1-½ years she accepted a teaching
position in Westchester County N.Y. It was there that she was
first introduced to paddle and was immediately hooked.
Gerri has won:
- 9 Women’s National Championships (8 with Sue Aery
and 1 with Connie Jones)
- 2 Mixed National Championships (1 with Mike Gillespie
and 1 with Chris Gambino)
- 2 40’s National Championships ( 1 with Sue Aery
and 1 with Connie Jones)
As a full time teaching professional at The Nyack Field Club
N.Y. for the past 22 years, Gerri revitalized the paddle program.
Taking a handful of regular players on 2 wooden courts, to where
it is today hosting 5 men’s & 4 women’s teams.
65 men compete in weekly ladder play, and double sessions are
held for the men’s and women’s round robins to accommodate
everyone and a junior clinic.
Gerri is a:

- Past Board of Directors for the American Platform Tennis

MIKE
GILLESPIE
Mike began playing paddle at Glen Ridge CC, Glen Ridge NJ in
1975. He remembers the first time he stepped onto the court.
As much as he was committed to tennis, he quickly became hooked
on paddle. Mike loves the combination of being caged in and
the need to concentrate so intensely.
Mike has won:
- 1 Mixed National Championship with Gerri Viant
- (2) 18 & under Nation Championships with Jay Packer
and Marc Stone
- (1) 23 & under National Championship with Jay Packer
- National Men’s finalist 1992,1994 & 2002
As a full time teaching professional, Mike directs the tennis
program at Pound Ridge Tennis Club, Pound Ridge, NY from 1995-present.
During the paddle season, Mike runs the paddle program at New
Canaan Field Club and Aspetuck Valley CC. Both programs have
doubled in size over the past 2 seasons. Mike is committed to
growing the game. He runs the New England Junior Open paddle
tournament, Viking Cup tournament, and trained the coach for
the Wilton High School paddle league with over 70 juniors participating
twice a week. He helped established a first ever New Canaan
ladies town league with over 100 participants.
Mike is a:
